Search and Rescue Unit
Maltepe University's Search and Rescue Unit is accredited by the "International University Search and Rescue Alliance." This unit works in close collaboration with the Search and Rescue Club, which is part of the Health, Culture, and Sports Department, to raise awareness among our university students about the vital importance of search and rescue operations.
The Maltepe University Search and Rescue Unit is always prepared for necessary interventions both before and after disasters. In collaboration with the Search and Rescue Club, the unit frequently conducts awareness training to provide students, administrative, and academic staff with essential information about disasters. In addition to awareness training, MUSAR regularly conducts field training related to intervention during disasters.
MUSAR and the SKS Search and Rescue Club have traveled three times to cities severely affected by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, delivering aid collected at our university to these heavily damaged areas, playing a significant role in meeting the needs of the region. MUSAR not only intervenes in rubble during disasters but also provides psychological support to people in the disaster-affected areas through psychological support teams after the disasters.
The Maltepe University Search and Rescue Unit actively provides training for both unit members and university students on natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and floods.
