Program Objectives

Maritime is an area with international characteristics. Our department, first in the field with its attendant leadership responsibilities, has the mission of being a reliable scientific instrument, controlling and putting the acquired knowledge into circulation in the field. The program intends to educate designers with architectural, interior architectural and industrial design expertise, capable of designing every type of yacht. In addition, one of the main purposes of the program is to bring up creative scholars who are sensitive to cultural, natural and environmental issues and can produce and utilize cutting edge technologies.

 

The various objects of this undergraduate program are: enhancing its educational potential at the national and international level; contributing to the yacht design market; exalting design as a business and occupation, with the advantages of geographical proximity to regions like Tuzla and Yalova in Istanbul where the yacht and ship construction industry is based; contributing to community awareness in maritime and design issues; to gain written/verbal presentation skills; to stimulate academic quality and development on issues like design and nautical vehicles; and channel its alumni toward academic life, post graduate practices and research.

  

The nautical design department graduates will get the title nautical designer. The program will undoubtedly contribute to Turkey’s as well as the world’s yacht construction sectors’ professional designer requirements. The nautical design undergraduate program offers good employment opportunities to its alumni in design establishments specialized in yacht class nautical vehicles, naval architecture establishments, and ateliers and shipyards producing boats of various sizes. Besides, it will provide for them an interdisciplinary academic career opportunity as well. Hence, the alumni’s wide employment opportunities are a very strong aspect of our yacht design program.
