Seminar on “Resilient and Sustainable Educational Campuses: Crisis Action Plans and Managerial Practices” held at Darüşşafaka Educational Institutions
The seminar entitled “Resilient and Sustainable Educational Campuses: Crisis Action Plans and Managerial Practices,” organized through the collaboration of the Maltepe University Science Communication Office (MAU BIO) and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, was successfully held on April 3, 2026, hosted by Darüşşafaka Educational Institutions.
As part of the seminar, Dr. Mert Tolon, Assistant Professor, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Coordinator of the Sustainability Office at Maltepe University, shared contemporary approaches and best practices related to sustainability management in educational institutions, campus resilience, disaster and crisis preparedness, climate change adaptation processes, and institutional sustainability applications.
During the event, participants emphasized that educational campuses should be addressed not only from the perspective of environmental sustainability but also in terms of disaster preparedness, risk management, energy efficiency, resource management, and organizational resilience. In addition, exemplary practices regarding the development of crisis action plans, managerial implementation strategies, and the establishment of a sustainable campus culture were discussed and evaluated.
The seminar, which attracted significant interest from administrators and educators of Darüşşafaka Educational Institutions, concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session. The event provided an important platform for strengthening university–school collaborations and promoting a vision of a sustainable future within educational institutions.
