Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay, Faculty of Architecture and Design, attended the 23rd World Renewable Energy Congress (WREC23) as an invited speaker.

Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay from the Faculty of Architecture and Design participated as an invited speaker at the 23rd World Renewable Energy Congress (WREC23), held in Bahrain from January 13-16, 2025. The congress, hosted by Kingdom University (KU) at the Bahrain Conference Centre, featured presentations from participants representing over 20 countries. In her presentation titled "Net-Zero Buildings: Opportunities and Challenges for Future Sustainable Development," Prof. Oktay shared design examples focusing on achieving an ideal balance between energy consumption in buildings and renewable energy sources. She also evaluated the opportunities and challenges for creating a sustainable built environment in the future.

Following her well-received presentation, Prof. Oktay was approached by the dean of a prestigious international university in Bahrain with a proposal to collaborate on topics related to "buildings and sustainability".
