A new regulation emphasizing the importance of industrial green transformation has been prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and published in the Official Gazette. The "Industrial Emissions Management Regulation" aims to encourage industrial facilities to adopt environmentally friendly production and increase their competitiveness in the international market. Within this framework, facilities will be issued an "Industrial Green Transformation Certificate" based on their environmental performance and classified from A to F.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, highlighted that green transformation is a significant step towards Turkey’s 2053 Net Zero Emission Goals. He stated that with this regulation, both nature and the industry, as well as the country, will benefit.

The regulation anticipates that approximately 6,000 facilities operating in sectors such as energy, metal, mineral, chemical, and others will transition to innovative and clean technologies. The ultimate goal for these facilities, which will be classified according to their environmental performance, is to obtain the 'Class A Certificate,' which will bring prestige in the international market.

Additionally, to support the investments needed during the green transformation process, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change will facilitate access to green financing options. Through the Turkey Development and Investment Bank, facilities can benefit from a $416.7 million financing source under the Industrial Emissions Reduction Project directed by the World Bank. These steps will play a crucial role in achieving sustainability goals in the industry.

Why is the Industrial Green Transformation Certificate Important for Sustainability Goals?

The Industrial Green Transformation Certificate is critically important for achieving sustainability goals. This certificate aims to enhance the environmental performance of industrial facilities and encourage the transition to sustainable production processes. Sustainability is vital for efficient resource use, reducing environmental impacts, and leaving a world that meets the needs of future generations. Industrial green transformation plays a key role in reaching these goals.

The Green Transformation Certificate ensures that facilities minimize their environmental impacts by employing the best available techniques. Facilities holding this certificate serve as examples in the field of sustainability by reducing energy consumption, improving waste management, and investing in innovative, clean technologies. Consequently, environmentally friendly production processes become more widespread, laying the foundation for a sustainable industrial structure.

Moreover, the Green Transformation Certificate offers industrialists a competitive advantage in the international market. Facilities that engage in environmentally conscious production gain prestige globally due to their compliance with international standards, leading to long-term economic gains through sustainable business models.

In conclusion, the Industrial Green Transformation Certificate not only provides environmental benefits but also supports economic and social sustainability. This certificate encourages industrial facilities to adopt sustainable production practices and contributes to leaving a more livable world for future generations.
