Department of Philosophy

In the Department of Philosophy, established in 2004, the approach to philosophy teaching is not limited to the context of the history of philosophy. Instead, it emphasizes a systematic approach that allows students to view philosophical concepts, questions, and issues from a broad perspective. Within the framework of the applied curriculum, students are introduced not only to the social and human sciences but also to classical and symbolic logic. The Department, which emphasizes the idea that human beings are social, historical, and cultural entities, also ensures that students are introduced to humanity's shared cultural heritage. In addition to the compulsory courses, the Department encourages students to take professional English and other foreign language courses to ensure they can use Turkish and at least one foreign language both orally and in writing. The curriculum of the Department of Philosophy, which strongly embraces an interdisciplinary approach, includes not only the required core subject courses for Philosophy Group Teaching but also general education courses and elective courses aimed at career development.
