Highlights from the Euromelanoma 2026 Awareness Event
The EUROMELANOMA 2026 Awareness Event, organized by the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Maltepe University, was successfully held on June 2, 2026, on the Maltepe University campus in front of the Faculty of Medicine building. The event aimed to increase awareness of skin cancer and emphasize the importance of early detection.
The screening program was coordinated by Associate Professor Hüsna Güder, MD, Head of the Department of Dermatology, with the participation of Assistant Professor Erhan Ersoy, MD; resident doctors Yağmur Vayiç, MD, Elif Müyesseroğlu, MD, Begüm Altuntaş, MD, Ege Aksoy, MD, and Pınar Çağla Şener, MD; as well as medical intern Umut Aşkın, MD Candidate.
As part of the event, free skin lesion (nevus) examinations were offered to Maltepe University faculty members, students, and administrative staff. Participants were evaluated for clinical features suggestive of skin malignancy, including changes in the color, shape, or size of melanocytic nevi. In addition, educational information was provided regarding sun protection strategies, skin cancer prevention, and the critical role of early diagnosis in improving patient outcomes.
