DKT 311 - Play in Speech and Language Therapy

This course covers the definition, characteristics, and importance of play, the history of play and historical perspectives on play, play theories, classification of play, its stages and types, play and learning, play and its stages according to developmental periods, play as a technique for understanding the child, planning and implementing play activities, organizing the environment for play activities and play areas, toys and play equipment, parent-child and play, play-based approaches used in speech and language therapy, and the role of the speech and language therapist in play.

DKT 312 - Developmental Stages and Emotion, Behavior, and Adjustment Disorders

It covers the characteristics of infancy, childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, middle age, and old age developmental stages, as well as emotion, behavior, and adjustment problems and coping strategies for these problems.

DKT 313 - Early Literacy

It encompasses literacy development, its relationship with language development, early literacy skills and their contributions to reading, the assessment of early literacy skills, and the acquisition of early literacy skills.

DKT 314 - Autism Spectrum Disorder: Communication and Language

It encompasses the properties of voice, voice training, diaphragmatic breathing exercises, phonation, register on the piano, and applied vocal exercises.

DKT 401 - Practices in Childhood Language Disorders

It includes distinguishing typical and atypical language developmental characteristics in children, identifying childhood language disorders and their distinctive features, acquiring the skills to conduct evidence-based language assessments, and designing and reporting therapy programs.

DKT 402 - Practices in Fluency Disorders

Within the scope of this course, students acquire the skills to make a differential diagnosis of normal dysfluency and stuttering, conduct evidence-based assessments of fluency disorders, design, implement, and report therapy programs for stuttering and cluttering, and acquire family interviewing techniques.

DKT 414 - Communication in Healthcare Services

It covers the definition, importance, and basic functions of interpersonal communication, factors affecting interpersonal communication, principles of communication in healthcare services, theories, and the effective communication process between the speech and language therapist and the individual with a speech and language disorder.

İNG 171 - English I

Designed for elementary-level students, this course aims to develop basic language skills. It helps students acquire listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through various teaching techniques and practical exercises. Students learn basic grammar patterns and vocabulary using dialogues and texts encountered in real-life situations. By the end of this course, students are prepared to progress from a beginner to an intermediate level in English.

İNG 172 - English II

Designed as a continuation of ENG 171, this course aims to further develop basic language skills. The objective is to learn English words used in real life and enrich vocabulary. Students' reading skills in a foreign language are developed. Similarly, their communication abilities are enhanced.

KPL 100 - Career Planning

The aim is to create awareness among students regarding "career"; to help them make personal career plans by gaining awareness about their interests, personal characteristics, and values, and by becoming acquainted with different sectors.

PSİ 157 - Introduction to Psychology

It covers the definition, goals, branches, and fields of study of psychology, evolution, genetics, behavior, development of behavior, learning principles and memory, learning strategies, learning materials, primary drives, emotions and excitement, senses, and perception.

THU 402 - Community Service Practices

It encompasses the concepts of society, community service practices, and social responsibility; social responsibility projects in terms of social and cultural values; identifying current social problems; preparing projects to solve identified social problems; voluntarily participating in social responsibility projects individually and as a group; participating in social responsibility projects in various institutions and organizations; participating in scientific events such as panels, conferences, congresses, and symposiums as a viewer, speaker, or organizer; and evaluating the outcomes of social responsibility projects.

TRD 157 - Turkish Language I

Turkish Language courses aim for students to demonstrate the characteristics and functioning rules of the Turkish language with examples; to acquire the skill and habit of expressing their feelings, thoughts, designs, impressions, observations, and experiences accurately and effectively in speech and writing; to develop their vocabulary through written and spoken texts; to learn the rules of correctly understanding the texts they read or the programs they listen to; and to develop language skills, which are the basis of communication between individuals and masses.

TRD 158 - Turkish Language II

The aim is for students to explain the characteristics and functioning rules of Turkish with examples and to demonstrate the spelling and pronunciation features of Turkish with examples. It enables students to develop their comprehension (listening/reading/viewing comprehension) and expression (oral and written expression) skills, and to establish connections with Turkish and world cultures and literatures.
