DOUBLE MAJOR / MINOR:
APPLICATION CONDITIONS:
The student can enter the second major diploma (DMP) program,
In the major undergraduate diploma program, at the earliest at the beginning of the third semester, and at the latest at the beginning of the fifth semester in four-year programs;
Students can apply to the major associate degree diploma program at the beginning of the second semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the third semester at the latest.
3.00 for application to Double Major programs; To apply to minor programs, a GPA of 2.50 is required. In addition, candidates who will apply for a double major must be in the top 20 percent of their class in terms of grade point average. However; Students who are not in the top 20% of the relevant class of the major diploma program in terms of success ranking; Those who have a score not less than the base score of the relevant year of the double major program can also apply to the double major program.
Students can apply to the Minor (YAP) program at the earliest in the third semester and at the latest at the beginning of the sixth semester of their major undergraduate program.
Students who have successfully completed all the credit courses in their undergraduate program up to the semester in which they apply are eligible to apply for the Minor program.
The programs between which Double Major and Minor can be done, application dates, and quotas are announced on this page during the application periods. Applicants submit their applications through the online system opened during the registration dates specified in the calendar, and their final registration is done by the Student Affairs Department. The evaluation of applications is carried out by the Faculty/School/Conservatory/Vocational School Boards in accordance with the principles and regulations determined by the Higher Education Council.
For horizontal transfer to higher education institutions that provide education entirely or partially in foreign languages, it is necessary to be successful in the foreign language proficiency exam held by the relevant higher education institution or (Additional phrase: OG-21/12/2019-30985) to document a score at the success level determined by the relevant higher education institution from national or internationally valid foreign language exams recognized by the Council of Higher Education during the application.
To transfer from programs taught in Turkish to those taught in English, students must pass the English Placement Test or meet the conditions specified in the Foreign Language Course Teaching Regulations.

According to the letter from the Higher Education Council, students who enroll through Vertical Transfer cannot pursue a Double Major in programs where "Success Ranking" is required.
DOUBLE MAJOR – REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION:
- ÖSYM Results Document: (The document should include all the scores from YKS/LYS/TYT/AYT/DGS). The result document obtained from ÖSYM’s website must have the Result Document Control Code. Documents without a control code will be considered invalid.

INTER-INSTITUTIONAL HORIZONTAL TRANSFER (BASED ON GPA):
Our university will accept students for undergraduate and associate degree programs through Inter-Institutional Horizontal Transfer only from universities within Turkey for the Fall semester of 2024-2025 (based on GPA).
To be eligible for an Inter-Institutional Horizontal Transfer, candidates must meet the requirements specified in the "Regulation on Transfer Between Programs at Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer" for Associate and Undergraduate programs. Applications from candidates who do not meet the required conditions will not be evaluated.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Freezing registration and/or failure to renew registration will not prevent applying for horizontal transfer.
HORIZONTAL TRANSFER APPLICATIONS BASED ON CENTRAL PLACEMENT SCORE (ADDITIONAL ITEM-1):
For the Fall Semester of 2023-2024, students will be admitted to our university’s Associate and Undergraduate programs through Horizontal Transfer based on the Central Placement Score (Additional Item-1).
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
COURSE EXEMPTION / TRANSFER PROCEDURES: Students who wish to transfer courses must clearly indicate the courses they wish to transfer on their course exemption request forms (FR-368 Undergraduate-Associate Degree Course Exemption Form). They must also attach course contents and transcripts (Transcripts must be stamped, sealed, and signed or electronically signed) from the previous higher education institution where they studied, and submit the request to the relevant Faculty/School Secretariat by the last registration date. Exemption applications after this date and documents that do not meet the specified conditions will not be processed. HORIZONTAL TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS / DISCOUNT OPPORTUNITIES: Students who are granted the right to transfer horizontally to our university will be eligible for the following scholarship/discount opportunities:
The scholarship/discount status of the candidates will be verified based on their ÖSYS/YKS/TYT/AYT/DGS placement document, which indicates that they were placed with a scholarship/discount in their current university. 2023-2024 ACADEMIC CALENDAR AND APPLICATION PRINCIPLES FOR SUMMER EDUCATION
SUMMER TERM APPLICATION PRINCIPLES:
PURPOSE OF THE SUMMER TERM: The Summer Term aims to: a) Provide additional learning opportunities for students who were unable to take certain courses in the Fall or Spring semesters, who failed a course (F, BZ, DZ), or wish to retake a successful course to improve their GPA (Grade Point Average), b) Help students balance their course load throughout the year by enabling them to take certain courses in advance and offer more options for those participating in Double Major and Minor programs, c) Provide students from other universities and professionals working in related fields with the opportunity to benefit from courses offered by the university, d) Utilize the university’s educational opportunities during the summer months to increase its efficient use. PROBATIONARY STUDENTS: (Students whose GPA is below 2.00 at the end of the fourth semester, or at the end of any semester thereafter, are considered probationary students. This process begins at the end of the second semester for students admitted through DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).) Summer Term course selection will be applied according to Article 24 of the Maltepe University Associate and Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Examination Regulation (for students enrolled after 2009). According to the Senate Decision dated June 16, 2017, and numbered 11, in the Summer Term:
SCHOOL OF NURSING STUDENTS: The School of Nursing, Nursing Program, may offer the Intern I and Intern II courses for the 7th and 8th semesters only for students who are at the graduation stage and have only one remaining Intern course, as per the Senate Decision dated June 19, 2019. FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN STUDENTS: According to the Senate Decision dated January 18, 2023, and numbered 01, starting from the 2022-2023 academic year, in the Summer Term, students of the Faculty of Architecture and Design can only take project courses if they have previously taken these courses and failed them with an F grade. Students who have never taken these courses or failed them due to absenteeism (DZ) cannot take the project courses in the Summer Term. STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR SUMMER TERM: a) Except for preparatory class students who have suspended their registration for one or two years, Maltepe University students who have no legal obstacles such as suspension, leave of absence, or expulsion according to relevant regulations can attend the Summer Term. b) Students registered in another university, and those who wish to participate in courses as part of lifelong learning, can also apply, provided their applications are approved by the relevant academic units. Students registered at other higher education institutions can also apply. TAKING COURSES FROM OTHER UNIVERSITIES: (1) Maltepe University students may take courses from another university during the Summer Term under the following conditions and with the approval of the relevant board: a) If the course they wish to register for will be closed due to insufficient quota, b) If the course will not be offered, c) If the student’s excuse is accepted by the relevant board. (2) According to the Higher Education Executive Board Decision dated September 13, 2017, and in accordance with Article 7/c of the 2547 Law amended by Law 2880, universities can determine which other institutions offer summer courses if they do not offer their own. If no summer courses are offered, students can take courses at a university with a program offering a higher base score than the student’s and these courses will be accepted by the university. (3) Students wishing to take courses from other universities (excluding courses based solely on practice, such as the Graduation Project and Design Studio VIII in the Faculty of Architecture and Design, etc.) must apply to the relevant board with a petition, showing the course codes, names, credits (ECTS), course contents, and documents indicating both the program they wish to attend and their own base score. Maltepe University students must complete the Summer Term registration and payment procedures and ensure that the course they wish to take is not offered by the university before registering for a course at another institution.
