Dear Students and Members,
As you may know, our University Search and Rescue Association (MUSAR) held a ‘Basic Disaster Awareness and Drop-Cover-Hold On Training’ on 13-14 October 2025 to prepare for possible disasters, particularly earthquakes, and to develop the correct behaviour during a disaster.
To reinforce the knowledge gained during this training and to prepare for the National Level Earthquake Drill to be held in the Marmara Region on 26 November 2025 at 11:30, an ‘Earthquake Drill’ will be held across our University on 12 November 2025 at 11:30. The drill will proceed as follows:
- At 11:30, a central announcement/siren or whistles will sound, and everyone will perform the ‘Drop, Cover, Hold On’ movement appropriately for their location.
- After waiting for approximately 45 seconds, the building will be evacuated quickly in single file, without panicking or running, under the guidance of teaching staff in classrooms and building emergency officers in corridors and other areas. During the evacuation, the instructions of the building emergency officers must be followed at all times.
- After the building has been evacuated, proceed to the nearest emergency assembly point.
- Building emergency officers check their buildings for various hazards and ensure that no one remains inside. Wait for a while at the emergency assembly point; you may re-enter the buildings only after the officers have given permission to do so.
You can access a wealth of information, including how to perform the Drop-Cover-Hold On movement, what to do during an earthquake, and the locations of emergency assembly points at our University, at https://maltepe.edu.tr/aramakurtarma, which is continuously updated.
Your participation is crucial for the successful completion of the earthquake drill; we thank you in advance for your interest and support.
