Ataşehir Urban Design Workshop 2025

Maltepe University Faculty of Architecture and Design, Ataşehir Municipality and Urbancode Planning Design - Software and Consultancy are organizing an Urban Design Workshop in Istanbul Ataşehir district, Begonya-Sümbül Street axis.

The workshop will be held at Ataşehir Inovata Incubation Center on June 18-20, 2025 with 17 participants consisting of Maltepe University Faculty of Architecture and Design students and graduates; and on June 23-25, 2025 at Maltepe University Faculty of Architecture and Design “HANGAR” area.

The main goal of the workshop is to turn the Begonya-Sümbül Street axis into a strong green corridor. During the workshop, the current situation of the study area will first be analysed, problems and potentials will be revealed. Afterwards, various spatial proposals will be developed at different scales in line with the needs of the users of the area.

The workshop will encourage the participants to produce creative, functional and sustainable solutions within the existing urban fabric and will enable the emergence of new ideas that will enrich the public life of Ataşehir.

The six-day workshop offers a creative working environment where students from design disciplines will come together and produce together. Thanks to this multidisciplinary structure that brings together different perspectives, it is aimed to produce qualified final products with original design languages, where various sub-headings and concepts are opened to discussion.

As an example of the strong collaboration between academia and public institutions, the workshop offers design students an alternative experience area where they can meet professional practice. In this respect, it is aimed to contribute to the development of participants' thinking skills on both professional and social scales.
