Message from the Dean
Maltepe University Faculty of Law has a significant historical background and is one of the best law faculties in our country. In addition to aiming to train its students as competent professionals, the Faculty is also committed to shaping them into individuals who can develop original thoughts and ethical values, thus becoming important actors in civil society in the future. Therefore, this goal relies on the existence of a genuine university environment that secures academic values, including intellectual freedom and institutional autonomy.
With an academic staff composed of distinguished and competent law professors in our country, the Faculty of Law at Maltepe University teaches, learns, and researches a wide range of legal disciplines alongside extraordinary students from all over Turkey. Thus, our faculty, which serves as a privileged place for the transfer of knowledge leading to knowledge accumulation, must be the place of knowledge. In this context, "knowledge production and quality education" is our common slogan.
The lawyers trained by Maltepe University Faculty of Law graduate from our campus with a clear advantage, equipped with essential knowledge and the ability to tackle complex legal issues and resolve legal problems that arise in rapidly changing areas. Considering that our students are likely to pursue careers in law, judgeship, and legal consultancy, a law education suitable for these professions is provided. Our graduates are trained to secure a career at the national or international level.
Our Faculty offers programs in both English and Turkish for undergraduate students, and our graduate students in master's and doctoral programs also receive special attention from various institutions, organizations, and researchers. In the past fifty years, unprecedented numbers of international legal texts covering nearly every aspect of human activity, from the ocean floor to space and climate, have been adopted by our country and other countries around the world. Students who take courses from competent academics in "International Law" and "European Union Law" as part of the Faculty's curriculum are provided opportunities to pursue an international career.
In recent years, challenges such as fighting a global pandemic, combating climate change, exposing social injustices, and dealing with increasing migration crises stemming from cross-border events have inspired students to become lifelong learners equipped with critical thinking skills and creativity necessary to help repair the world.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Servet ALYANAK
