Introduction

Maltepe University Faculty of Law, which aims to train legal science and qualified legal experts at national and international levels, was founded in 1997. It produced its first graduates in the 2000-2001 academic year. Our faculty, which carries out its teaching activities with its academic staff consisting of experienced academicians, each of whom is known in their own fields both in Turkey and around the world, has organized its four-year undergraduate program with a completely unique synthesis that it has reached by trying to reconcile the legal education programs of countries in the Continental European and Anglo-Saxon legal systems with the Turkish legal system as much as possible. Our curriculum, which offers theory and practice together, has adopted the principle of training effective legal experts not only in the national but also in the international arena. With this in mind, our curriculum includes a curriculum that is compatible with both classical fields and subjects and the legal agenda and subjects of the modern world in line with the development of science and technology. Thirty percent of the ongoing curriculum consists of English courses, and it has been decided to change the language of education of our faculty to Turkish in the 2020-2021 academic year. Our graduates who successfully complete their undergraduate education have the opportunity to work in ministries, banks, national and international civil society organizations, in addition to professions such as lawyer, mediator, judge, prosecutor, notary, which can only be practiced by people with a legal identity. Within the framework of bilateral agreements made by our university and faculty, our students have the opportunity to study abroad for one or two semesters with ERASMUS programs, which increases their employment opportunities, especially in the international field. Our faculty, which offers its students a wide range of competence and work area opportunities with its rich elective courses, organizes and hosts periodic scientific meetings, thus ensuring that our students establish maximum contact with all local and international professional networks and professional scientific and application agendas at the earliest possible stage.
