6 February Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes Memorial Programme
We respectfully and fondly remember all our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş on 6 February 2023 and deeply affected our country. On the anniversary of this major disaster, which left deep scars on our collective memory, Maltepe University Search and Rescue Association (MUSAR), the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and the Search and Rescue Club will participate in the Commemoration Programme organised by Maltepe Municipality to honour our losses, strengthen our culture of solidarity, and raise awareness of disaster preparedness.
On this occasion, we aim to emphasise once again the importance of creating a society that is conscious, sensitive and prepared for disaster risks; and to share our hope for a future where such tragedies are not repeated, loss of life in disasters is prevented, and disaster awareness is strengthened at a societal level.
In order not to forget this great disaster and to remember our shared responsibility, we invite all our students and members of our university to attend the commemoration programme.
