1) What facilities are available in the dormitories?
Our dormitories are located within Marmara Eğitim Köyü, within walking distance of all faculties.
Food & Beverage Services:
There is a central dining hall on campus serving three meals a day. You can access dining hall prices online. In addition, various cafés and restaurants are available throughout the campus. Upon request, campus cafés and restaurants may deliver orders to the dormitory entrances. Cafeterias offer TV broadcasts, seating areas for hosting guests, and recreational equipment such as billiards and table football.
Health Services:
Our health center and fully equipped ambulance operate between 08:00 – 17:00 on weekdays.
Sports Facilities:
Surrounded by pine forests and fresh air, Marmara Eğitim Köyü offers a natural sports environment. Students may benefit free of charge from walking tracks, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and basketball and football courts. The fitness center and indoor/outdoor tennis courts are available at discounted rates.

2) Can I get information about dormitory fees?
You can access dormitory fees online.
Online payment options are available.
3) What documents are required during dormitory application?
- Student certificate confirming enrollment at Maltepe Üniversitesi
- Copy of ID card
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Criminal record certificate
- Residence certificate (Students residing in Istanbul may be accepted only if space is available.)
- Medical report from a state hospital or public health clinic (must state: “There is no medical objection to staying in a dormitory.”)
- Hepatitis B test report
4) When is the earliest date I can move into the dormitory?
Move-in dates are determined each year according to the academic calendar of the relevant faculty/school.
5) What is the purpose of the deposit? Is it refundable?
The deposit is used to cover any damage to dormitory property. After check-out, if no damage is identified, the deposit is refunded.
6) If I apply late, do I have to pay the full annual fee?
No. The fee is calculated based on the date of move-in.
7) Are dormitories open during summer school? Is there an additional fee?
Opening of dormitories during summer school is announced officially. A separate fee determined by the Executive Board applies and is not included in the annual fee.
8) If I leave during the semester, will I receive a refund?
Refund Policy:
- Students leaving by September 15: 10% of the annual accommodation fee is deducted.
- Students leaving after September 15: The months stayed (including the current month) are charged in full; 50% of the remaining months’ fee is deducted before refund.
The remaining balance and deposit are refunded, and the undertaking is mutually terminated.
No refunds are made for meal fees.
9) In which cases is a full (pro-rata) refund granted?
A pro-rata refund (charging only for the period stayed) applies if the student:
- Participates in Erasmus abroad
- Submits an official medical board report (signed by at least three doctors from a fully equipped state or medical faculty hospital) stating they cannot continue dormitory stay
- Proves termination of university registration in the second semester (via transcript or graduation certificate)
- Completes the preparatory language program mid-year and submits an official success certificate
10) How do I renew my dormitory registration each year?
After the renewal announcement, students inform the Dormitory Administration of their preferred room and (if applicable) roommate. The room is reserved until the renewal deadline.
To finalize renewal:
- Fill out the Student Registration Form
- Sign the Dormitory Undertaking
- Obtain approval from the Dormitory Director
- Make the payment
- Submit proof of payment
11) Are there entry-exit hours?
- Weekdays: 07:00 – 00:00
- Weekends: 07:00 – 01:00
12) What are the dormitory rules?
Dormitory rules are specified in the Dormitory Directive (available online).
13) What are the sanctions for violating dormitory rules?
Penalties include written warnings, reprimands, or expulsion.
14) If I am expelled, can I reapply later?
The Dormitory Executive Board makes the final decision. Students expelled for serious misconduct cannot reapply.
15) Can students choose their rooms?
Yes, subject to availability.
16) Can I transfer to a different room category?
Yes, by paying the price difference, subject to availability.
17) Can I change rooms if I have issues with my roommate?
If justified and approved by dormitory management, a room change may be arranged.
18) What should I bring when moving in?
Required items:
- Bed linens, pillow, duvet or blanket
- Bathroom supplies (towel, soap, shampoo, paper towels, etc.)
Optional items:
- Kettle
- Coffee/tea machine
- Toaster
- Hair dryer
19) Is there a laundry service?
Yes. Laundry services are available for a fee.

20) How is security provided?
Security at Marmara Eğitim Köyü is provided 24/7 by a professional team and surveillance cameras. Dormitory access is controlled via personalized encrypted electronic cards.
21) Is there a health service on campus?
Yes. The health center operates on weekdays between 08:00 – 17:00. Students can dial extension 2060 from dormitory common area phones.
22) Can my family or friends stay in my room?
Guests cannot stay in dorm rooms. However, the 5-star Marma Hotel İstanbul Asia located on campus offers discounted accommodation for students’ relatives.
23) What should I do if I lose my room key?
Report it to the Dormitory Administration. A replacement key will be issued after payment of the key loss fee.
24) What should I do in case of technical problems?
Report the issue to the Dormitory Administration. Staff are available 24/7. Technical personnel will address the issue as soon as possible.
25) What should I do when moving out at the end of the academic year?
Inform the Dormitory Administration and return your key and access card. A room inspection will be conducted, and a room delivery form will be signed.
26) Is there transportation to the city center?
You may use public buses operated by İETT:
- 133N (from Kartal coast)
- KM45 (from Küçükyalı)
- KM44 & KM43 (from Maltepe center)
- 19H & 19Y (from Kadıköy)
- SM12 (from Samandıra)
Access is also available via E-5 (Maltepe Bridge – Başıbüyük route) and TEM (Kartal–Samandıra junction).
27) Can I smoke inside the dormitory building?
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all indoor areas. Disciplinary action will apply.
28) Can I keep alcoholic beverages in my room?
Alcohol use and possession are prohibited. Disciplinary action will apply.
29) Can I hang posters or announcements?
Only with prior permission from the Dormitory Administration.
30) Can I keep a pet?
Pets are not allowed. Disciplinary action will apply.
31) Can I listen to music in my room?
Yes, provided it does not disturb others.
32) Is there a place to watch TV?
Rooms do not have TVs. Students may watch TV in the dormitory café area.
33) Are there shopping facilities on campus?
Yes, shopping facilities are available within Marmara Eğitim Köyü.
