A 1986 graduate of the GATA Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Orhan Türken is a renowned scientist recognized internationally as an expert in internal medicine and oncology. While his clinical work brings healing to patients, his academic research has left a profound mark on the scientific community. Prof. Dr. Türken has made a name for himself with his groundbreaking work on cancer treatment and oncological diseases, particularly distinguishing himself through innovative treatment methods and multidisciplinary approaches. He continues to contribute to both medical science and advancements in the healthcare field through the projects he leads at Maltepe University.
DR. ZEYNEP AKBULUT
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE MALTEPE UNIVERSITY CANCER AND STEM CELL RESEARCH CENTER
After completing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology at Gazi University, she earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from the Institute of Health Sciences at Yeditepe University. She gained experience in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology laboratory techniques, and blood transfusion at various healthcare institutions in Ankara and Istanbul. At the Maltepe University Cancer and Stem Cell Research Center, she has focused on cell culture techniques through the projects she has been involved in.

OUR FOUNDER, PROF. DR. RANAN GÜLHAN AKTAŞ
Prof. Dr. Ranan Gülhan Aktaş is renowned for her pioneering work in the field of cell and tissue research. Dr. Aktaş, who founded the Maltepe University Cancer and Stem Cell Research Center in 2014, has played a major role in the center’s achievement of national and international successes over the past 10 years. Her research, particularly on liver cancer and cancer stem cells, has been honored with numerous awards and has left a lasting impact on the scientific community. As a member of the International Relations Committee of the American Society for Cell Biology, Dr. Aktaş continues her efforts to strengthen Turkey’s ties with the global scientific community.

*Dr. Can, whose research focuses on various mesenchymal stem cells, particularly umbilical cord stem cells, plays an active role in the development of national stem cell policies. *He is the founder of KÖGEM, one of Turkey’s oldest and most active centers in the field of stem cell research. After serving as director of this institution for 8 years, he began working as Director of the Regenerative Medicine, Stem Cell Research and Treatment Center at Liv Hospital.
