About The Program

About the Program

Founded in the 1997–1998 academic year at Maltepe University, the Department of Business Administration was enhanced with the launch of the Master’s Programs (with and without thesis) in the 1999–2000 academic year and the PhD Program in Business Administration in the 2012–2013 academic year. The department aims to cultivate innovative and visionary leaders and managerial candidates who are capable of analytical thinking and intuitive decision-making, able to identify current business problems, develop effective solutions, and make quick and accurate decisions in times of crisis.

Mission
To educate graduates who possess analytical thinking skills, can produce innovative solutions, have internalized social and ethical values, and are contemporary, independent, and entrepreneurial individuals.

Vision
To become a department that makes a difference in the business world and society through its graduates, who are educated with a universal approach to science, a contemporary approach to education, and intellectual freedom.

The educational quality and compliance with international standards of the Department of Business Administration were formally certified in 2021 by FIBAA, a reputable German accreditation agency. Furthermore, in 2024, our Business Administration Department was granted the right to bear the Turkish Qualifications Framework (TQF) logo, becoming one of the pioneering departments in the field of Business Administration to receive this recognition. The TQF logo holds significant importance as it enhances the national and international recognition of the diploma, demonstrates that the academic program adheres to quality and competency standards comparable to international programs, and contributes to graduates’ employability through its quality assurance mechanisms.

The department is committed to cultivating entrepreneurs who establish their own ventures rather than merely producing job seekers. The curriculum is systematically reviewed and updated on an annual basis by an advisory board comprising industry professionals, faculty members, and students, in alignment with global developments and sectoral demands. Maltepe University’s Department of Business Administration is distinguished by offering one of the most flexible curricula in Turkey in terms of elective course options. The extensive elective course pool enables students to pursue multidisciplinary development and specialization aligned with their interests. Contemporary themes such as “sustainability,” “entrepreneurship,” and “digital transformation” inform the course content. Accordingly, innovative courses including “Start-up Entrepreneurship,” “Social Entrepreneurship,” “Corporate Sustainability Management,” and “Artificial Intelligence Applications in Business” have been integrated into the curriculum.

There is strong communication framework between students and academic staff within the Department of Business Administration at Maltepe University. Students’ academic progress, course selections, and career planning are supported by academic advisors. Regular student meetings are held each semester, wherein student feedback and expectations are meticulously analyzed and considered in the ongoing enhancement of the program.

In accordance with the department’s commitment to university-industry collaboration, the program aims to equip students with practical business skills by enabling them to take courses from experienced professionals in the industry. The introduction of the “Career Planning” course in the first year directs students towards early career development and encourages conscientious planning of their university education. Through double major and minor programs, students are provided the opportunity to enhance their competencies in diverse disciplines, thereby strengthening their career profiles upon graduation. Additionally, to cultivate individuals with an international perspective, the department offers Professional English courses alongside foundational English courses. Students also benefit from extensive Erasmus exchange agreements, providing opportunities for academic study across numerous European countries.

While many Business Administration programs in Turkey require only one internship, our program requires two compulsory internships during the 7th and 8th semesters. The substantial number of applied courses further enables students to acquire extensive field experience prior to graduation. Business Administration graduates can work in departments such as marketing, accounting, finance, human resources, production, and procurement in private sector; in chambers of industry and commerce; in public institutions and organizations; in banks; or in non-governmental organizations. They can also establish their own businesses as entrepreneurs. Additionally, students who complete double major or minor programs benefit from broad scope of Business Administration education and can work in a wide range of professional fields.
