The Human Rights Centre of Maltepe University started conducting, under the Institute of Social Sciences, an M.A. Programme on Human Rights with and without thesis. The specifity of this programme is that it is an interdisciplinary human rights programme, at the center of which there is philosophy and ethics.
It aims at equipping, before anyone else, those who are expected to protect human rights –all public officials, including security personnel, members of the parliament, teachers, social workers– with the conceptual knowledge of human rights, as well as with knowledge enabling them to find, in the situations they have to act, the practical implications of human rights. Both are necessary for the actual protection of human rights.
