Cartoon and Animation Department

The Cartoon and Animation Department is fully equipped to train professionals actively working in the fields of cartoon and animation art, theory, and film production. Established in 2004, our department continues its journey as the second Animation department in Turkey after Eskişehir, which has been training students in this field for 15 years, and with the distinction of being the first in Istanbul. The success of our graduates has established our program as a leading force in the industry, providing new applicants with the assurance of strong professional support upon graduation.

Building upon this knowledge, experience, and expertise, our undergraduate program in cartoon and animation runs parallel with education and training projects coordinated with similar institutions both domestically and internationally. The success and experience gained from these collaborations ensure the department's position as a reputable institution with high competitive strength. Furthermore, Erasmus agreements with numerous countries and schools provide our students with opportunities to study abroad. We benefit from being a "campus university," allowing interdisciplinary connections with other arts and sciences, fostering self-development. Our curriculum is regularly updated in line with global education systems, providing the infrastructure for students to create films even before graduation. This allows our students to participate in national and international festivals with their productions.

Our department workshops are designed to provide the optimal environment and conditions for maximum student productivity, closely replicating a professional studio setting, emphasizing active learning and practical training. Our educational programs are meticulously prepared in accordance with the quality and higher education values defined by the “Bologna Process.” In this context, our department aims to train and contribute to society individuals who are active, inquisitive, resourceful, goal-oriented, and persistent within their field, possessing a strong understanding of personal artistic and aesthetic concepts, and committed to upholding ethical values.
