Cartoon competition for prisoners and prison personnel was organized by the Centre for Research and Application of Human Rights of Maltepe University. Deadline for submission of cartoons was 20 November 2011.
The jury which consisted of well-known caricaturists and members of the Steering Committee of the Centre, met on 16 December 2011 and evaluated the 58 submitted cartoons.
As a result of this evaluation the first prize was awarded to Mr. Y. Figueroa, the second prize to Mr. M. Boğatekin and the third prize to Ms. S. Çelik. Award ceremonies were organized in each of these prisons.
Prof. Ioanna Kuçuradi, Director of the Human Rights Centre, underlined the importance of educational activities for prisoners and said that all of us should bear in mind what a prisoner told her, “After many years, you reminded us of our humanity."
