Information and Precautions Regarding Coronavirus (COVID 2019) (11.03.2020)
The information activities provided and the precautions taken by the academic and administrative units of our University and the Marmara Education Village regarding the coronavirus (COVID 2019) affecting the world globally may be summarized as follows:
- The announcements of The Ministry of Health (https://hsgm.saglik.gov.tr/tr/bulasici-hastaliklar/2019-n-cov.html) and
the Council of Higher Education (https://www.yok.gov.tr/Sayfalar/Haberler/2020/coronavirus-hastaligina-iliskin-universitelerde-alinacak-tedbirler.aspx) related to the subject are being provided to our students and academic and administrative staff on a daily basis.
- We ensured that said announcements are visible in all our venues.
- Today (11.03.2020), two of our academicians from our Faculty of Medicine conducted an “Awareness Seminar” in order to provide information on the relevant subjects. We published the seminar online as well. (https://www.maltepe.edu.tr/tr/koronavirus-covid-19-bilinclendirme-semineri)
- Keeping a close watch on the decisions taken by the National Agency, we enlightened both our students and academicians on Erasmus mobility.
- We informed in detail our international students about the subject.
- We cancelled 3 weeks ago with a great prediction, the International Student Congresses (namely, Maltepe University International Student Congress, MUISC), which we have been carrying out for 8 years. We are planning to actualize these series of congresses, which became traditional, more powerfully next year.
- By courtesy of our experience in distance education, we would like to announce that we are able to activate and put in place our Blackboard system, which we have been using effectively, in the context of distance education as well, with simultaneous live lecture opportunities. In this regard, we would like to share that we are awaiting the Higher Education Council's recommendation decisions on this subject.
- We also inform you that “Open Access” opportunities of our library are among the biggest supporters of our educational activities. (http://kutuphane.maltepe.edu.tr/
- We maintain all administrative work without delay with our MÜBİS and EBYS facilities.
- Currently, we have suspended our large-scale events for our external stakeholders. Necessary announcements about this will be provided later.
- Our University, which always closely monitors the issue of keeping the environment clean, has further increased the precautions in this context. All our indoors and outdoors have started to be disinfected with antibacterial nanotechnology silver ion application as well.
- All environment which should be given careful attention in terms of hygiene and all frequently used environments such as entrances, academic and administrative units, library, canteens and WCs are equipped with disinfectants.
